TSTY offers a comprehensive range of distribution transformers spanning from 30kVA to 31,500kVA and above. Available in both oil-immersed and dry-type configurations, these units are compatible with mainstream distribution voltage levels such as 6kV, 11kV, 22kV, and 33kV.
Manufactured in strict accordance with IEC 60076 and GB/T 6451 standards, the transformers can be customized regarding voltage combinations, vector groups (e.g., Dyn11), impedance voltage, and protection ratings. TSTY products have been exported to over 100 countries and regions, serving diverse applications including grid modernization, industrial parks, commercial buildings, and new energy projects.

100kVA Distribution Transformer
The 100kVA unit represents the entry-level capacity in the distribution transformer series, suitable for small-scale power consumption needs.
Typical applications: Small shops, restaurants, small apartment buildings, rural grid upgrades, municipal lighting, etc.
Economic load range: Approx. 70–85 kW (based on an 85% load factor).
Low-voltage side rated current (0.4kV): Approx. 144 A.
Selection tip: A 100kVA transformer is ideal for small projects with limited electrical equipment and low total power demand. If future capacity expansion is anticipated, opting for a 160kVA or 200kVA unit initially is recommended to avoid the need for replacement in the short term.

500kVA Distribution Transformer
The 500kVA unit is a common capacity for small-to-medium industrial and commercial power distribution. It sits at the upper limit of the "small transformer" category (transformers rated at 630kVA and below are typically classified as small).
Typical applications: Small-to-medium factories, commercial complexes, distributed photovoltaic (PV) power plants, mining power supply, etc.
Economic load range: Approx. 300–380 kW.
Low-voltage side rated current (0.4kV): Approx. 722 A.

Selection tip: The 500kVA rating marks a significant "watershed" point. A single 500kVA transformer can meet the power requirements of typical small-to-medium enterprises (supporting multiple production lines alongside lighting and office operations). If the load consists primarily of inductive loads (such as electric motors), it is recommended to appropriately increase the capacity or select a transformer with high overload capability.
630kVA Distribution Transformer
630kVA is one of the most iconic capacity milestones in the field of distribution transformers; it represents both the upper limit for small transformers and the recommended maximum capacity for oil-immersed transformers in distribution substations.
Typical applications: Residential complex power distribution, commercial buildings, power and lighting for industrial and mining enterprises, rural grid upgrades, box-type substations, photovoltaic power plants, etc.
Economical load range: Approx. 500kW
Low-voltage side rated current (0.4kV): Approx. 909A

Selection tip: 630kVA is a common upper limit for oil-immersed transformers in distribution substations. For residential complexes, a single 630kVA transformer can meet the electricity needs of approximately 200–300 households (based on a calculation of 3–5kW per household). It is also a highly cost-effective configuration for box-type substations.
800kVA Distribution Transformer
800kVA marks the starting point of the medium-sized distribution capacity range. With a capacity falling between 630kVA and 1000kVA, it is suitable for projects with higher load densities and stricter requirements for power supply reliability.
Typical applications: Medium-sized factories, large commercial complexes, data centers, municipal infrastructure, etc.
Economical load range: Approx. 600–680kW
Low-voltage side rated current (0.4kV): Approx. 1155A

Selection tip: 800kVA is often used in scenarios requiring more capacity than 630kVA but not quite reaching the 1000kVA load level. In box-type substation projects, 800kVA units are frequently paired with 630kVA and 1000kVA units to create tiered power supply solutions. For medium-sized factories experiencing rapid load growth, an 800kVA transformer offers more ample redundancy.
1250kVA Distribution Transformer
1250kVA is considered the "golden capacity" for small-to-medium industrial and commercial power distribution. It is particularly well-suited for projects characterized by rapid load growth, high peak demands, and the need for future expansion capacity.
Typical application scenarios: Electronics factories, machining plants, food processing facilities, commercial complexes, hotels, hospitals, data centers, EV charging stations, new energy power plants, etc.
Economical load range: Approx. 900–1060 kW
Low-voltage side rated current (0.4 kV): Approx. 1804 A

Selection Tip: The 1250kVA model is ideal for industrial projects where a single production line requires 500–800 kW, and the total demand—including office and lighting loads—falls within the 800–1500 kVA range. It handles peak loads effectively while maintaining a 15%–20% redundancy margin, preventing the awkward situation of needing an upgrade immediately after commissioning. It is also a common choice for commercial complexes and hotels—buildings where air conditioning and elevators account for a significant portion of the load and peak demand fluctuations are pronounced.
How to choose the right transformer capacity?
Consider the following factors when making a selection:
Calculate total load: Tally the power ratings of all electrical equipment, accounting for simultaneity and demand factors.
Allow for redundancy: Aim to keep the load factor between 70% and 85% to provide headroom for future expansion.
Consider load type: Inductive loads (such as motors) have high starting currents, requiring a larger capacity margin.
Prioritize energy efficiency: Opt for high-efficiency models such as S13/S20 (oil-immersed) or SCB14 (dry-type).
Consider the installation environment: Dry-type transformers are preferred for indoor use, while oil-immersed types are suitable for outdoor applications.
